OUR VISION
1500/2035
To deliver 1 500 competent black farmers to the land by 2035
OUR MISSION
Our goal is to create partnerships with purposeful people who can combine and harness their experience and energy to transform South Africa into a confident, competitive farming nation.
WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO
The Need & Benefits
By empowering young, black farmers, we can normalise farming and ultimately society.
About Farmers For Africa
- If we want to see successful and sustainable land transformation, and continue to grow the South African agricultural sector, while guaranteeing our food security, then we need more black commercial farmers…
- To develop the next generation of black commercial farmers, we need to support young black graduates exiting the colleges and universities, who have shown that they want to become farmers, with the necessary work experience to become successful farmers.
- Our objective is to develop commercial farm managers and, in this way, give them the opportunity to become successful commercial farmers in due course. In the same manner that their white counterparts gain experience on the family farm when they have completed their studies, Farmers For Africa will be giving the young black graduates the opportunity to gain this experience by working with mentor farmers.
- With experience, comes the opportunity to access commercial funding and the opportunity to take up land either privately or via government programmes.
- The programme brings together a partnership of mentor farmers, energetic graduates, like minded funders and a group of dedicated Farmers For Africa staff who want to make a meaningful contribution.
